Flagler Museum

"Whitehall" completed in 1902 was the Gilded Age estate home built by Henry Flagler.  Water front views, impecable grounds and of course, a lovely home.  The Flagler Museum, located in Palm Beach, is open to the public to view.  I also recommend "tea" which is available by reservation.  Afternoon "tea" is an enjoyable experience at the estate.

Thank you Holly -

Grocery Shopping - it's "Unbelievable" in a good way...

I bet you'll never guess what's nestled behind manicured hedges and towering palm trees on a quaint street in Palm Beach.  An actual grocery store.  A little difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area as there is no signage and as I said, it is hidden behind manicured foliage.  But wow!  When you experience shopping here, you'll never want to shop anywhere else.  I absolutely love it and it's quickly becoming my new favorite hang out.  Why you ask?  Well.....

"The Top 10 Reasons I Love this Grocery Store"

1.  Some guests are treated like children.  However, they are impeccably groomed and well behaved.  Cheese please!

2.  The wine aisle has an associate that seems to be as well qualified as a sommelier.  So helpful with his recommendations.  Thank you very much.

3.  A woman talking about buying a $1,700 can of caviar at the seafood counter.  Hmmm.

4.  Private chefs professionally dressed perusing the aisles.  It is hard to hold back the urge to ask them for cooking advice.

5.  That brings me to uniforms.  Kitchen Staff, House Staff, Yacht Staff, Estate Staff, Medical Staff.  Everyone has a name, a title and whom they work for but one thing in common - they like to shop.  Or do they?

6.  Men, dressed in black, grocery shopping - and speaking Italian :)

7.  The Palm Beach Daily News which is commonly referred to as the "Shiny Sheet" is sold here.  It offers fashion styles, discusses upcoming events, society happenings and of course, the local gossip.

8.  Valet Parking.  Yes, it's true.  Just enjoy it.

9.  If you're in the market for a luxury car.  This is one stop shopping.  Just meander around the parking lot to consider your next purchase.  Rolls, Bentley, Aston, Ferrari ...... just too many to mention.  Kudos to the valet attendant.

10.  A very nice older woman in the deli aisle told me that I was "naturally beautiful".  Well, it works for me!

Palm Beach International Equestrian Center

The Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida is so much fun to visit.  A wide selection of events are available to view in this spectacular setting.  Enjoy the arena which offers grandstand seating then venture to the back of the facility to have a bite to eat while you walk through the vendor village.  Great opportunity to see the horses with their groomers, or watch the riders in the practice ring.  We had a fabulous time and will return again soon.

Let's Go for A Walk

Palm Beach has beautiful walks to ride a bike, exercise or just to enjoy a leisurely stroll.

Side roads offer multiple entrances to a fabulous lake trail with miles of scenic views along Lake Worth Lagoon.  Mansions on one side and West Palm Beach on the other.
No need to travel over the drawbridge to Palm Beach if you're in West Palm.  They too have long stretches of trails on the Lake.  Parks, fishing and views along the way.  I'm off for a walk.

Florida !!

There's something about a palm tree that brings a calming effect to me.  It's a symbol of warmth, relaxation and tropical beverages, of course.  As I mentioned previously, I have ventured off Nantucket for a few months to visit Palm Beach and Singer Island. It's sunny and 80 degrees - this will be fun.
Singer Island. Just a hop, skip and a jump away. I look forward to exploring it's beaches, sanctuaries and restaurants.
While Nantucket fishermen are off searching the cold waters for bay scallops, the fisherman in Florida are docked in the intercoastal between West Palm Beach and Palm Beach.  Just relaxing, so it seems.
It appears the mega yachts have left Nantucket to find their winter escape on Palm Beach.

"Spiced Pineapple Cocktail"

Spiced Pineapple Cocktail

I saw a fabulous beverage in the Martha Stewart magazine and thought it would be the perfect cocktail as we wait for Spring to arrive.  I'm venturing south to Florida this week and look forward to sharing a variety of stories, photos, beverages and sites through the winter season.

Ingredients:

1/3 cup lime juice (approx. 3 limes)
3 T. honey
1 cup pineapple juice
2 cups fresh/frozen pineapple chunks
1/4 cup triple sec
1/3 cup tequile
2 cups ice
 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Add top seven ingredients to a blender and mix.  Then combine chili powder, sugar and salt in a small bowl.  Moisten the rim of four glasses with a lime wedge.  Coat the glass rims in the powder mixture.  Divide blender mixture into glasses and garnish with a lime.  It's perky and quite enjoyable !
