War Brides - Book Club

This story introduces five women who become friends during WWII. The novel mostly takes place in England and is truly a fabulous read. My book club enjoyed it immensely and our host treated us to a wonderful "tea" in keeping with the charm of English hospitality.

Cheers!

Where is Nantucket?

Nantucket Island is about 30 miles off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  It's not the easiest place to get to but once you arrive it's as if you're a world away.  Many islanders travel on and off the island by ferry to Cape Cod or by a little "puddle jumper".  The passenger ferry takes one hour, the auto ferry takes 2.15 hours and the flight is just about 15 minutes.  Of course, flights are available to Boston and and other destinations when in season, but as you can imagine, they're pretty costly.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nantucket will give you a little demographic information
about Nantucket, Island

Yikes!  Over $100 to fill my gas tank.

Is it expensive to visit and live here?  Yes it is.  But hey, it makes everything seem like such a deal when not on island.

National Geographic named Nantucket as the #1 Best Island so take a look and see what you think.   This is my favorite beach - Miacomet Beach on the south side of the island.

A little bit about me

I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself.  I grew up and lived outside of Boston till I recently sold a company shared with a couple of friends.  My husband's business brought him to Nantucket so we picked up, sold the house and moved to the island.  It wasn't as dramatic as it sounds :)   You see, we were fortunate to have had a home on the island for many years and spending time on the Nantucket has always been a dream.  We are "empty nesters" which is an adjustment, but our pooch "Derby" (who I love) and our cat "Cuddles" (who I don't love) keep us company in between the kids visiting.  We are fortunate to call Nantucket "home" and look forward to future memories and colorful events that will be experienced on island.  I love having drinks with my friends, love going out to dinner and love spending time with my family.  So we begin......

My good friends and husband.

Cheers !
